All Change
The Magic of the Book of Changes
All Change; the Magic of the Book of Changes
When I first started practising feng shui professionally I would often consult the Yi Jing (or Book of Changes) for hints. After a while I began repeatedly to be responded to with Meng, Hexagram 4 known as “Youthful Folly” which essentially says “This is your job not mine, get on with it.”
There is something about the ordering and shape of the Hexagrams (or six-line figures) of the Yi Jing (otherwise known as the I Ching ) which manages to reflect the circumstances under which it is consulted. It can speak to us very personally and can appear to comment in the most remarkable detail. Chinese diviners have of course used it both for counsel and forecasting for more than 3000 years.
At 7:30pm BST (2:30pm EST) on the 1st Wednesday of each month (next one August 7th) I teach a Yi Jing Class via Zoom. I have committed to examining all 64 of them in the order in which they appear in the Chinese Calendar. You may not have the stamina for what is a 7 or 8 year commitment but you can join us for a year at a time by contacting sheilaashworthfengshui@gmail.com.
The idea is to:
1. Offer some guidance if you have cast the current Hexagram.
2. Shed light upon the underlying wisdom in the symbols.
3. Look closely at how the Hexagram may reflect or even forecast current circumstances.
The video linked above is to if you like, highlights of the July class on Song, Conflict or Dispute, the Hexagram which corresponds to this current Metal Sheep Month of July 2024: How do we deal with conflict? How do disputes arise? When to double down and when to back down?
We put these videos out monthly and previous ones are available on my YouTube Channel.
